Sox, Steaks and Double D

We had a long week at work. But, by COB on Friday, our integration test was successful and we were resetting the system to get ready for acceptance testing next week.

I was tired and just looking to hang out at the house for the evening and relax. I remembered that Kent had left a steak in our fridge, so I thought hmmm.... maybe steaks on the grill to celebrate?! So, we invited Kent over for dinner and fired up the grill. Now, I have been a little bit hesitant to spend money on a steak because they're expensive, and I really have no idea how to cook one correctly. But then I thought 'Hey, why not practice on Kent's steak? If I screw it up, he's out the money and I can go to Longhorn for dinner..." So I gave it a try and to my amazement, things actually turned out to be pretty tasty. We had steaks, grilled veggies and corn. ( and, the next day, everyone was still alive! :-) )In fact, it turned out so well that I’m sure there will be another steak on my grill very soon!

Megan and James stopped by after dinner and we all ended up on the deck enjoying the nice summer weather and clear sky. (We also enjoyed some beer, wine and the ever popular Pain Killer!) Now, it’s been a little bit humid lately in Ohio and that means we've also had an increasing amount of mosquitoes. When it gets like this, I usually wear long pants on the deck at night. It seemed particularly bad, so I tucked my pants into my socks.

I should have known better with this crowd, because the incessant mocking didn't take long. There is a small possibility that it was alcohol fueled, but that really is no excuse!! All the cell phone cameras came out and suddenly there were camera flashes everywhere! My mosquito protected legs suddenly felt like an A-List celebrity surrounded by the paparazzi! Then, to add insult to injury, Megan (a.k.a. Double D) started calling me Sox! Now, you'd think that someone with the nickname Double D (before you readers with minds in the gutter get the wrong impression, Double D stands for Delicate and Dramatic) would have more compassion and understanding!! But hey, I guess that's just how Double D rolls... :-)

Anyone who's been camping knows that sometimes mosquitoes can go up the pant legs...with really annoyingly itchy results! Before the pic ends up on the National Enquirer Monday, I have decided to post it here and ask: Is this really a look that warranted such callous mocking and name calling?!?!

On a side note, Sox was up and moving early for golf lessons on Saturday morning...Double D was moving a little slow and joined the golf lesson a little late. ;-)
