The Pantry Project, Part Deux
The pantry is still not finished. Monday saw margaritas, coronas and a late evening with friends, so we didn't even consider hanging shelves. We wisely skipped it and went to bed. Yesterday was a beautiful day here. Perfect temperatures, humidity, blue skies...the works. Susan and I both wanted to go somewhere for dinner and dine alfresco, but also wanted to finish the shelves. We really should have picked one and skipped the other. With the bad idea bears as our advisers, we decided to go to dinner and finish the pantry.
Things started out OK, then the effects of late hour and long day started to show. There was poor communication, misunderstood communication and, finally, marital discord (\dis-kord\ - 1 a: lack of agreement or harmony (as between persons, things, or ideas) b: active quarreling or conflict resulting from discord among persons or factions). I hate marital discord. We managed to finish half of the food side before we both agreed we'd be better off finishing tomorrow. Wise decision.
One of the issues with the new shelf configuration is that there is less room for food. I think this will be OK though, because we don't keep a lot of food at the house. We tend to buy food stuff as we need it. Once we adjust to the smaller space, I think we'll be in good shape. The new shelves have freed up quite bit of space in our island and that should help alleviate some of the issues in the other cabinets.
