Mmmmm...Crab Cake Sandwich!
Today we went to Barbara Jean's for crabcake sandwich's. Well, at least Mike and I did. The rest of the gang was being good sports. Barbara Jean's crabcakes are YUMMY! If you're ever visiting St. Simons, definitely give them a try. I recommend the jumbo 7 oz. sandwich and the white cheddar grits. If you can't visit, then order some crab cakes online. BJ will send 6 of them for $73.94!
After lunch we did a little shopping in the stores near the pier. Susan found some bargains and we were all enjoying the warm weather. Mike, Susan and Mick did a pretty good impression of the lizards and sat on the large rocks near the water and soaked up the sun. I snuck away for some ice cream and we all met up with Anne Marie near the big oaks.
Susan and I dropped everyone at the house and headed to Jekyll Island. The Jekyll Island Club Hotel is a special place for us. We visited the hotel in 2003 while visiting Mick on St. Simons. I remember being very drawn to the hotel and the awesome trees. Susan and I both fell in love with the trees and decided it was the perfect place to get married. I believe there is wisdom in the very old trees and the hotel and grounds were the perfect setting for one of the happiest days of my life. It is truly a special place.
We had dinner at the house and then finished watching Auntie Mame. I'm glad Anne Marie suggested the movie. I can honestly say I would never have seen it if she hadn't. The movie was fun and Auntie Mame (Rosalind Russel) was a HOOT! If you can find it at a video store or library, its definitely worth seeing. Susan, of course, fell asleep and missed most of the movie. Not her fault though, it was late and we had a pretty full day. Still, maybe she should try watching movies while standing?
