The almost trip to the Golden Corral
In honor of the Army's 233rd Birthday (June 14, 1775), Kent, Karen, Dan and I decided to go to the Golden Corral today for lunch. Why the Golden Corral you ask? And, if you're like most of our co-workers, family and friends, the question is asked with quite a bit of disdain and revulsion. Well, the simple answer is: we wanted to eat somewhere that resembled a mess hall. The Golden Corral seemed like the perfect choice.
We loaded the car and headed out for lunch. Dan even printed the words to the Army's song, although none of us are familiar with the music so that didn't go very far. To our shock and incredible disappointment, the Golden Corral had lost power and was closed! The mood in the car was dark and something had to be done to save lunch. We counter-attacked and went to the Pizza Hut buffet instead. Sure, its not like a mess hall, but frequently there are members of Ohio's National Guard and Reserve there for lunch so we thought it made an OK substitute.
In the end, we celebrated the Army's birthday and probably just missed a bullet named EColi. And, on top of if all, we had a really fun lunch adventure and boosted our moral a little.
